In the year 2000, a man calling himself John Titor began posting on forums. After a short period of time, he revealed that he was a time traveler from the year 2036. In the process of explaining who he is, he also reveals a future that is very different from the world that we know now. He goes on tell of an apocalyptic future where the United States is devastated by a civil war soon followed by a worldwide nuclear war. He says that half of the world's population is killed within the first seven days. After the nuclear holocaust, the world is at peace and in pieces. During John's time the world is in the midst of the largest human reconstruction effort ever. The US Government has been reshaped and not has five presidents. The capital has moved to Omaha, Nebraska and what was once fifty States, has been consolidated into five. Also, the ability to time travel has been made possible through the use of gravity displacement. The use of time travel is strictly limited by a special team. Time travel itself is not used to go back into the past to affect the future, but rather to go into the past and retrieve equipment that can be used in the future for the reconstruction effort. John Titor is one of these time travelers.
